The problem with synology is that it uses UIDs instead of usernames, and the way it assigns UIDs is nonstandard. Thus, while I was the first user created both on my laptop and on the NAS, my UID on the laptop is 1000 while on the NAS it is 1024. There are supposedly methods for mapping UIDs.
